National Historic Cheesemaking Center.
Located in a lovingly restored Milwaukee
Road Rail Depot, both the Green County
Welcome Center and the cheesemaking
museum welcome visitors. A replica
cheese factory, plus artifacts and
photos, trace the Swiss cheese
industry. Open daily 9-4 March
thru October. Admission: $5.00, 16

Green County Cheese Days is the oldest food
fest in the Midwest, honoring cheesemaking,
dairy farming, and Swiss heritage.
Since 1914, Monroe's Historic Courthouse
Square has served as the scenic backdrop to
the festival grounds, and the celebration
attracts crowds of revelers ready to yodel,
polka, and consume cheese by the truckload.
Highlights of the weekend include
entertainment stages, street dances, old
time cheesemaking demonstrations, parades,
dairy farm tours, cheese tent, and cheese
sampling.

Follow the
trails to an amazing "Autumn Adventure" at
Busy Barns Adventure Farm. Embark on
the corn shock cavern and straw play barn,
tread your way thru the trivia corn maze and
straw maze, roam the u-pick pumpkin patch
and tractor tire trail, dare take on the
20-foot tunnel slides. Then paint a
pumpkin, take in a puppet show, sit on the
antique tractors, ride the pony swings, try
the obstacle course, play in the corn box
and milk "Holly the Holstein." Plus

demonstration every Sunday at 1:00pm.
